BCOM has partnered with the Americas Network for Chronic Disease Surveillance to host the International Conference on Chronic Diseases. Approximately 200 medical researchers and professionals will be attending the conference to be held in the BCOM building November 8 – November 11. All presentations and workshops will be available in both English and Spanish via the use of simultaneous translation services.
This is an amazing opportunity to meet and learn from world-renowned experts representing Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Columbia, Costa Rica, Cuba, El Salvador Ethiopia, Finland, India, Kuwait, Mexico Nigeria, Paraguay, Poland, Puerto Rico, and the United States. The AMNET- BCOM 2016 International Scientific Committee put out an open call for abstract submissions and they accepted more than 30 research projects for oral or poster presentation during the event. Congratulations to BCOM student John Avery Neal. His framework for improving immunization coverage was selected for poster presentation.
A big thank you to Dr. Hugo Vilchis for leading the efforts to bring this prestigious, global conference to Las Cruces. Dr. Vilchis says he hopes the BCOM faculty and staff will take advantage of the opportunity to engage with medical professionals from around the globe. Graduate students, higher education faculty, researchers, and employees working in the public health sector can also benefit, especially from the three preconference workshops: Using Tableau Public for Research, Scientific Writing 101, and Community Intervention in Preventing Chronic Diseases. It is $450 for the entire conference, but attendees from the regional community will receive a 50% discount. One day passes are $100 and the preconference workshops are only $25 each.
