Office of Research and Sponsored Programs
At the Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine
The BCOM Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) is committed to supporting the College’s academic community in their efforts to:
- advance knowledge;
- create an atmosphere of discovery and scholarship; and
- inspire excellence in scholarly endeavor.
The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs will provide organization and infrastructure to support faculty in grant and contract activities through the effective and timely handling of research proposals, and will ensure regulatory and compliance issues are appropriately addressed. These efforts will facilitate innovation, collaboration and involvement on the part of the faculty and student body.
The ORSP also oversees institutional compliance with regulatory issues related to research and scholarly activity. Specifically, the ORSP ensures BCOM faculty and appropriate staff receive training in the ethical conduct of research, biosafety (including OSHA training), use of animals in research, human subjects protection, and institutional review board requirements.
