About Us

About Us

Research is defined as a systematic investigation, including research development, testing, and evaluation, designed to develop or contribute to generalizable knowledge.  The educational aspects of engaging in research endeavors have demonstrated to be a benefit and essential component for medical students that go far beyond creating new knowledge.  By employing the scientific method, students benefit by increasing critical thinking and communication skills, two essential skills that make for an excellent physician.  As medicine advances, acquiring the aptitude for research know-how and practices is vital for our future physicians and the communities they serve, which is why the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs aims to expand medical student research opportunities at Burrell College.

Our Mission

The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs – Student Research serves to expand the opportunities for medical students to engage in research and creative scholarship at Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine.  We support and promote learning through mentored research experiences across all disciplines of medicine and basic science research.
