This event marks the first annual Commencement Ceremony for medical students at the Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine. We exist to be a transformative force for education and health care throughout the Southwest. After graduating from BCOM, you will play a significant role in improving the health of the region, the state and the nation. Together, we are the future of medicine!

What is a commencement and hooding ceremony?
The commencement ceremony is a special moment for those earning a master’s or doctoral degree. Normally, each individual in the Class of 2020 is called by name to the stage to draped with an academic hood; the process implies initiation into the field of osteopathic medicine. For the safety of students, faculty and staff, this traditional in-person ceremony has been cancelled. Instead, graduating students will be recognized during a virtual live stream on May 8.

Where will the commencement ceremony take place?
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our physical ceremony at the Pan American Ceremony was cancelled. The Class of 2020 Commencement Ceremony will be hosted entirely online.

How can I watch the commencement ceremony?
The Class of 2020 ceremony will be live streamed at 2 p.m. Friday, May 8 on Facebook.com/bcomNM.
