Foundation Corner: Hunt Family Foundation Establishes Medical Scholarship

The Hunt Family Foundation (HFF) has awarded a grant gift to the Southwest Foundation for Osteopathic Education and Research (SWFOER). The funds are to be used for the establishment of the Woody L. Hunt Scholarship at the Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine. The HFF will match one dollar for every dollar SWFOER raises, which will allow the total scholarship fund to double in size.

John L. Hummer, BCOM’s co-founder and president said, “It is truly an honor for SWFOER to have the support of Woody Hunt and his family foundation. BCOM is also honored to have had Woody’s strong support since our inception and throughout our development. Thanks to Woody’s leadership, our Borderplex region is more cohesive and collaborative in all areas of education and commerce.”

Woody Hunt said they are pleased to provide the matching grant gift to SWFOER because the HFF supports the work BCOM is doing. “We believe the Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine has the potential to do great work and it is our hope that the college can make significant progress in the areas of osteopathic education and research,” he said. “The Burrell College will also contribute to the overall economic development of the Borderplex region. This specialized medical school can play a significant role in making the Borderplex more competitive, as well as help build a better quality of life for residents in the Las Cruces area.”
