Clinical Training & Graduate Medical Education
BCOM has developed a clinical education network with hospitals, medical centers, Federally-Qualified Health Centers as well as well hundreds of physicians (to serve as clinical faculty) in Las Cruces, NM / El Paso, TX Albuquerque, NM / Santa Fe, NM and other parts of New Mexico, Texas and Chihuahua, Mexico (please see map below). This network will support a comprehensive selection of generalist and specialty clinical clerkship experiences for third and fourth year medical students as well as providing the basic infrastructure for our OPTI and graduate medical education development.
Currently, BCOM has facilitated the ongoing graduate medical education (GME) development on new residency programs in family medicine, internal medicine, sports medicine, psychiatry and anesthesiology. Additional new GME programs are under development.

Primary Teaching Hospitals, Medical Centers, and Clinics
The healthcare organizations listed below have become collaborative partners with BCOM since the beginning of the medical school’s development. There will be five main teaching HUBS for our medical school: 1) Albuquerque, NM 2) Eastern NM, 3) El Paso, Texas 4) Las Cruces, NM and 5) Tucson, AZ. In each HUB, BCOM’s students will experience immersion in both medical centers and integrating experiences within community care clinics. It is this type of immersion that will provide an excellent and challenging environment for clerkship training versus other regions of the United States.

Graduate Medical Education
BCOM is leading with GME! No new osteopathic medical school in recent history has demonstrated the strength, creativity and velocity of GME development as that of BCOM and its affiliated clinical partners.
Developing strong GME partnerships in advance of BCOM’s first admitted class but facilitating the approval of new programs five years in advance of its first graduates, should demonstrate to applicants just how serious BCOM is to its students’ success. As of July 2015, five years in advance of the first graduation ceremony, BCOM has successfully facilitated the creation of 101 new residency positions that will be closely aligned with its faculty and graduates.
Based on this commitment, BCOM is well on its way towards its goal to facilitate the creation of at least, if not more, the same number of GME positions as that of its graduates by the year 2020.
