BCOM Library Presents: Copyright for the Busy Educator – July 26

Presented by Norice Lee and Erin Palazzolo

When: Wednesday, July 26th
Time: 1 to 2:30pm
Where: Lecture Hall, Room 158

In our current technologically rich environment, the opportunity to create and share copyrighted works has never been greater. Educators need an understanding of the basics of copyright law and the principles of fair use to increase their confidence when using copyrighted materials and reduce worries of violating copyright law.

Through interactive scenarios and discussion on relevant topics, workshop participants will learn best practices for exercising fair use rights and strategies for seeking permission to use materials when needed. Special teaching and publishing situations, such as inclusion of images and media in publications, lectures, and/or presentations, will also be covered in the session. Finally, we will discuss initiatives for creating and sharing knowledge, which present alternatives to the current legal framework.

Please join us … and bring along your specific copyright questions/concerns for sharing and consideration in the last half hour of the session!
