General Information for Applicants

 

 Deadline

The deadline to apply to the Online Fundamental Biomedical Sciences program for the 2016 – ’17 academic year is July 8, 2016.  Applicants are responsible for insuring that all materials are received by that date.  Applications not complete as of July 8, 2016, cannot be considered for admission to the class matriculating in August 2016.

 

Application Process

Admission to the Online Fundamental Biomedical Sciences program at Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine requires that you have earned a minimum equivalent of a US four-year bachelor’s degree prior to the start of the program in August, 2016.  All instruction is in English, and applicants with a degree from an institution where English is not the primary language of instruction must take the TOEFL exam and submit the results of that examination as part of their application.

Applicants must have successfully completed, with a grade of C or higher, the following courses before entering the program:

1 year (6 credit hours) of English

1 year (8 credit hours) of general biology w/ labs

1 year (8 credit hours) of general chemistry w/ labs

1 year (8 credit hours) of organic chemistry w/ labs, or

1 semester each of organic chemistry w/lab (4 credit hours) and biochemistry with lab (4 credit hours)

1 year (8 credit hours) of physics with labs

 

A non-refundable application processing fee of $50.00 is required and must be received in order for the application to be considered complete. The application fee must be paid electronically through the link provided at the end of this application. This application fee, and all supporting materials such as letters of recommendation, official transcripts, and standardized test scores must be received prior to July 8, 2016 in order for the application to be considered complete and eligible for review for the entering class of 2016.

 

Application Review

Applicants are encouraged to apply early, as admission decisions are made on a rolling basis.  Once an application becomes complete it will be reviewed and the applicant informed of their admission status within two to three weeks. Applicants accepted into the program will be notified of their acceptance via email and must confirm, via return email sent to OnlineFBS@bcomnm.org their intention to participate in the program. This confirmation email and a US$1,000.00 non-refundable deposit to hold your acceptance for the 2016-2017 academic year must be received no later than 15 business days after receiving BCOM’s acceptance notification email.  This deposit will be credited towards your program tuition bill.
